ABOUT PEARL HARBOR

On December 7th, 1941, the naval base at Pearl Harbor in South Oahu was attacked by Japanese forces. This surprise attack claimed the lives of 2,403 Americans and propelled the United States into World War II. 19 U.S. Navy ships were damaged or destroyed, including the fated USS Arizona, which sank to the bottom of the harbor with 1,777 servicemen still onboard. The USS Arizona remains in the harbor, and the memorial erected on the ship’s hull attracts more than 1.7 million visitors annually. Today, Pearl Harbor is home to numerous museums and monuments that honor the lives lost in 1941 and tell the story of the day that lives in infamy. Pearl Harbor is also still a fully operational naval base, home to 18,000 service members.

A wonderful and humbling experience. I think every American visiting Hawaii ought to do this tour. You can’t really get the breadth of knowledge and truly understand the magnitude of this attack until you’ve been there. God bless our troops!

  2. Louis Harris

This was powerful. War is such a waste and these monuments and the life lost here prove it. Very glad we went to pay respect..

  3. Judy

We bought 3 tickets through Tripadvisor only to not be put on the list when we met the shuttle. I’m livid and have not been refunded yet. I then booked through you and it was seamless. I’ve learned my lesson to not use them again. The tour was fantastic, and I’m glad we’re persistent.

We really enjoyed the insight and warmth our guide Aaron provided. He brought humanity to such heavy stories. Thank you, Aaron!

I think everyone visiting Hawaii should go to Pearl Harbor. It’s more than just seeing a beautiful place with a tragic history, but it also helps you understand the heart ache of the local community and resident military when this happened. It shaped this island, I’m sure. Thank you again for an informative and important trip.

The tour guides were knowledgeable and passionate about what they were teaching us, which made it even more interesting and engaging for everyone. They showed us artifacts from the war, including bullets, shells, and guns that had been used during battle. We also got to explore various buildings at Battleship Row that had been damaged during the attack.

Taking part in this Pearl Harbor tour was an incredible experience that will help me remember this important history. It gave me insight into one of our nation’s most devastating events while also providing historical context and valuable lessons about courage and sacrifice. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking for an educational and sobering Hawaii side trip.

We began at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, where we watched a short movie describing the events of December 7, 1941. We were then taken to the USS Arizona Memorial, which is located directly above the sunken battleship. On the memorial we heard stories about some of those who lost their lives on that fateful day. It was incredibly moving and thought-provoking. We also got to learn about other ships in Pearl Harbor and how they were involved in World War II. Highly recommend for history-buffs and any Americans.
