While Oahu is rife with highways that carry motorists to nearly every corner of the island, a vehicle can only get you so far. Dotted with inaccessible mountain ranges, remote waterfalls, and swirling colorful offshore reefs, the only way to truly explore Oahu inside and out is via the seat of a helicopter. Fortunately, one of the best helicopter companies in the state operates on Oahu- and they know how to elevate the experience, no pun intended. With a maximum of only three passengers, each guest is afforded a window seat. The pilot also plays the role of tour guide, offering an in-depth narration of the flight. With a handful of island excursions to choose from, guests can explore from the pulsing heart of Waikiki to the dramatic pali cliffs on the windward side. And if a private Oahu helicopter tour isn’t exciting enough, to begin with, doors-off flights are also an offer.

Private Oahu Helicopter Tours Kaena Point

THE OAHU EXPERIENCE

From Waikiki to the North Shore and back, this 55-60 minute excursion circles nearly the entire island of Oahu. The journey begins in Honolulu, coasting over the Waikiki skyline and the iconic Diamond Head crater. As you head along the south shore, you’ll pass over Hanauma Bay, Koko Head, and the rugged coastline at Makapuʻu Point. From here, you’ll travel over the windward side of the island, over kaleidoscopic reefs, tiny offshore islands, and along sheer jade cliffs. This route also showcases views of the sweeping Kaʻaʻawa Valley, also known as Jurassic Valley, and the 1,000 ft. Sacred Falls, which is off-limits to the public. But it doesn’t end there- you’ll then swoop over to the North Shore, home to dazzling golden beaches and some of the best surf on the planet, before concluding with a flyover at Pearl Harbor. This excursion is the most timely and breathtaking way to experience all that Oahu offers.

PHOTOGRAPHER  EXPERIENCE

Helicopter tours on Oahu often evoke memories of Magnum P.I.’s signature doorless chopper sailing all over the island. Geared for pro photographers, you’ll cruise around the island in a doorless helicopter- just like on the show. Similar to the Oahu Full Island Tour, this flight heads from Waikiki to the east side, over the colorful reefs and valleys near Kaneohe Bay, before heading to the North Shore and concluding at Pearl Harbor. Need to shoot something specific? This tour can arrange all of the necessary permits to ensure your shot is of professional-level quality.

I dint know how many islands you have all around your big island. Your island is bigger than I thought. I liked the reefs cause we could see straight down into them. And the mountains made my favorite 2 things.

This was my first time up in a helicopter. WOW! I had no idea how much of Oahu was green and lush. We’ve been in Waikiki for a week and didn’t explore. Tomorrow we’re heading out to rent a car and see some of these areas we didn’t know existed. Thanks!

You blew our minds! What an experience My first time in a helicopter and it was in Hawaii! I would do this everyday of the week if I could. Hoping to come back to Hawaii again someday.

The views were stunning: lush rainforests, sparkling waterfalls, and golden sand beaches all spread out beneath us. Our pilot was knew a lot about the islands, pointing out specific landmarks and narrating stories about the history and culture of each region. He made a point to show us multiple locations perfect forphotographic opportunities and waited till we got it. I would do this again in a heartbeat!
