Fairmont Kea Lani

Fairmont Kea Lani

Drive through the plush landscapes of Wailea and you’re bound to want to stay on one of the region’s pristine beaches. Discover that pleasure and more at the Fairmont Kea Lani, a turreted sanctuary situated on one of the finest stretches of sand on the island. Here, mynah birds provide cheery morning greetings while splendid views of Haleakala beg you to tear your eyes away from the ocean. Amenities abound at this lavish resort, from hot tubs perfect for stargazing to restaurants worthy of their awards (hit up Kō for sushi, fresh fish, and libations). The best part of all? Snorkeling is just steps away from where you hang your bathrobe.

Sheraton Kaʻanapali Beach

Sheraton Maui Hawaii

The Sheraton at Kaʻanapali Beach is a destination in itself: pristine terrains frame lucid pools while one of the longest and most beautiful beaches on Maui operates as the resort’s front yard. But despite its designation as a destination resort, the Sheraton maintains the islands’ aloha sensibility in the form of friendly service, rooms appointed with Hawaiian touches, and open-air eateries. Have keiki in your crew? They’ll love the pools, while adults can partake in a round of tennis—or a round of mai tais at their lively waterfront bar.

The Paia Inn

paia inn

Millennials flock to this hip and historic inn on Maui’s North Shore for good reason: The charming spot, located in the heart of Paia, is surrounded by some of the best restaurants and shops on the Valley Isle, while windswept beaches—capped with huge waves and the surfers who brave them—are just a few hops away. The rooms are stylish and sweet, and the atmosphere is apt for the bohemian-cool town in which the hotel sits. Catch brunch at their in-house café, where you can sip organic juices and dine on treats like cardamom French toast with vanilla bean crème anglaise (and espy Owen Wilson while you’re at it).

Grand Wailea Resort & Spa

Grand Wailea Resort

The Grand Wailea—a 40-acre Waldorf Astoria resort that’s perched on one of the most photographed beaches in the world—has rightfully earned its reputation as the pinnacle of glamour. A copse of gorgeous monkeypod trees greet guests before they’re taken into a marble lobby that exhibits extraordinary sculptures and a circular bar crowned with Maui’s rendition of the Sistine Chapel. And this is just the beginning of it all: 832 rooms have sweeping views of the south side’s lovely coves and the distant islands, while the tiered pools, waterslides, and hidden hot tubs end at a lagoon that faces the waterfront. Featuring the largest spa in all of Hawaii, a stained-glassed church, racquetball courts, an award-winning luau, and a thatched-roof restaurant that floats on a koi pond, the Grand Wailea is indeed grand—and then some.

Hana-Maui Hotel

Travaasa Resort

Those keen on disappearing for a spell will find discretion in spades at the Travaasa Hana, Maui. Originally founded in 1946, this ultra-remote resort has transformed from a rustic, six-room inn into a sophisticated hotel with 69 romantic bungalows that overlook Hana’s coastline. Dubbed an experiential resort for the packages it offers—wellness and culinary being just two—this elegant, cozy spot highlights classic amenities on top of a superb farm-to-fork restaurant and what was voted as the “No. 1 Resort Spa in Hawaii” by Condé Nast Traveler. But its greatest boon of all? The area’s astonishing natural beauty: This is rainforest and waterfall country.

Hyatt Maui

Positioned on 40 acres of verdant landscape on the island’s west coast, the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa earns top marks for its sheer number of bonuses, from an infinity pool overlooking the Pacific to tennis courts perfect for sporty families, as well as snorkeling at Black Rock just steps away and a beachfront Tiki Bar that’s as delightful as its name. 1. Our favorite is KBH, we have stayed there many times, though not the fanciest the staff and accommodations are wonderful. The restaurant can’t be beat. Will be returning in 3 months for the 10th time.

  2. Surprised Maui Kaanapali Villas, we’re not on that list.
Beautiful, quite, gentle, Kaanapali Beach. Pools, breakfast ocean front at Cast Away, resteraunt and bar.
Next to Black Rock. Great snorkeling, kayaking, stand up boards.
Also the Condos at MKV are very nice. Convieniant having a kitchen. Also beautifully kept bbq areas. Beautiful grounds and great place to meet and mingle with other guests. As well as the, Wednesday evening free Mai Tia social hour complete with local musicians.
Oh and go ahead and pick a fresh lime from one of the many fruit trees. So refreshing in your homemade cocktail while BBQing and socializing.
I have stayed at many resorts on Maui, including The Hyatt, The Sheridan, The Weston, Eldoradoans so on. Maui Kaanapali Villas, is the place I always recommend.
